Master’s in Social Work, Smith College
AJ grew up in Vermont and moved to Western MA in her early 20s. She graduated from Smith College with a double major in psychology and sociology and earned her Master’s in Social Work from the Smith School of Social Work. AJ worked at the Brattleboro Retreat on the adolescent inpatient unit for two years and a mental health agency for eight years working with a variety of populations. She then spent four years at the Department of Children and Families before returning to VT in 2020 to be closer to her family of origin. AJ describes herself as a Solution Focused Therapist and is more directive in her therapeutic approach than is practiced in other modalities. She has had training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. She is experienced working with adolescents and adults and specializes in working with LGBTQ+, Transgender, DCF involved, foster and/or adoptive families, and couples.
