What would you like to tell us about your profession?
I have worked in health care, public health, and administration for over 20 years. I currently serve as the District Director for the Vermont Department of Health Newport District and work towards maintaining and improving the health of Vermonters living in Orleans and Essex Counties.
Why did you decide to serve on our Board of Directors?
Northern Counties Health Care (NCHC) is a critical component of the health care safety net serving Northeast Kingdom populations. I believe access to quality healthcare is a human right and Northern Counties provides people of all means high quality healthcare delivered with compassion and dignity. I am excited to help in any way I can to expand access to care and to further the mission of such a great organization.
What interests or hobbies do you have?
I enjoy hiking, gardening, biking, kayaking, camping (pretty much anything outdoors), house projects, and photography.
What advice would you give prospective Board Members?
Be patient – Northern Counties is a complex healthcare organization in an even more complex health care system. It will take a good year to start feeling comfortable in your new role as a Board Member.
