What would you like to tell us about your profession?
My main focus in volunteering is for the greater good centering the wellbeing of the community. I strongly believe in building a health community is by providing access to holistic health care. One of the most enjoyable volunteer activities began in 2020 by founding POWERED Magazine – dedicated to improving mental, physical and social health and wellbeing of BIPOC by increasing access and creating opportunities for BIPIOC to engage in outdoor activities; and support workforce development for people returning to work. I know the health benefits of engaging in outdoor activities and it brings me joy to share that with underserved populations; and giving humanity a chance to develop a healthier community by creating opportunities to empower community members to be self-reliant gives me hope.
Why did you decide to serve on our Board of Directors?
As a community member, I believe the services provided by NCHC are invaluable in building a healthy community in the rural NEK. To build a healthy community equitable health care is critical. My perspective as a community member contributes to further the mission of the NCHC and I am excited to be part of a team in support of building equitable health care.
