What would you like to tell us about your profession?
I have been a social worker for about forty years, working with children, families and youth both in Ontario, Canada and here in Vermont. It has been a joy and honor supporting people and the overall system through the many challenges life presents. Most recently I worked as the Field Director in Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties for the Agency of Human Services; retiring this past summer.
Why did you decide to serve on our Board of Directors?
I believe that good health care is a basic need to people surviving and having a good life. In my work as a Social Worker, I saw how having good access to health care was key to a positive path for people. I also have had the great pleasure of working with many of the NCHC employees from the various departments. Their energy and deep commitment to the people that they served; and to the mission of NCHC was palpable to me; and so admirable. I am looking forward to being a part of NCHC’s good work.
What interests or hobbies do you have?
I love running, hiking and gardening, yoga, tennis and pickle ball and cooking for my family and friends…Anything that gets me out and connecting!
What are you most excited to learn about through NCHC Board service?
I am excited to learn more about NCHC’s strategic plan and their work in their vision of building healthy families and thriving communities.
