What would you like to tell us about your professional experience?
I am the Laboratory Director at North Country Hospital with more than 26 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. I began my career in 1999 at Fletcher Allen Health Care (now UVM Medical Center) as a Laboratory Support Technician in the chemistry department while completing my bachelor’s degree at the University of Vermont. During this time, I performed triple marker testing on maternal blood and advanced into roles as a Medical Technologist and later a Charge Technologist in the high-volume and specialized chemistry sections.
In 2011, I returned to the Northeast Kingdom to join North Country Hospital. Transitioning to a critical access hospital environment allowed me to develop as a laboratory generalist, working predominantly on night shift and gaining comprehensive operational experience across all laboratory disciplines. In 2019, I pursued a master’s degree in healthcare administration at Champlain College. I was promoted to Laboratory Director in 2021, where I oversee laboratory operations, ensure regulatory compliance, advance quality and patient safety initiatives, and lead a skilled laboratory team in delivering reliable diagnostic services essential to patient care.
Why did you decide to serve on our Board of Directors?
I grew up on a dairy farm in the Northeast Kingdom and was a single mother for seven years. These experiences gave me firsthand insight into the financial and personal challenges many individuals and families face, including the difficult reality of placing healthcare behind other immediate priorities. This perspective deeply aligns with NCHC’s commitment to working with patients and families to provide quality healthcare that is accessible, affordable, and patient-centered. I am excited to serve in this new capacity as a first-time board member and to collaborate with a dynamic team that brings a broad diversity of experience, perspectives, and expertise.
What interests or hobbies do you have?
I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, reading, and weight training. I also enjoy home diy projects and have recently taken up golfing.
What are you most excited to learn about through NCHC Board service?
Healthcare is a team sport, and I am most excited to learn from fellow board members and the leadership team. I am a strong proponent of collective intelligence and believe that cross-disciplinary backgrounds are essential in shaping an organization’s vision and culture—particularly as health systems navigate unprecedented challenges and ongoing change.
